Mike Canevello graduated from Loras College in 2013 with a degree in kinesiology and exercise science and a coaching minor. As a Duhawk student-athlete, he competed in both baseball and football and later remained connected to the college working in admissions, volunteer coaching and continued involvement with Loras athletics.

Mike brings a steady, team-oriented leadership style to the LCFB Gridiron Club. His professional work in the insurance industry, combined with his long-standing commitment to Loras and the football program, reflects a strong dedication to people, relationships, and the Duhawk tradition.
Adam Kennedy is a Loras College alumnus and CPA with a strong background in accounting and audit leadership. He played baseball at Loras, where he developed the discipline, preparation, and attention to detail that continue to guide his professional work.

As Treasurer, Adam brings financial oversight and a thoughtful approach to stewardship. He is known for his dependable, organized style and for his continued connection to the Loras community and its mission.

Patrick Suttie graduated from Loras College in 2022, where he studied kinesiology and played football for the Duhawks. His experience as a student-athlete gives him a firsthand understanding of the energy, commitment, and pride that define the Loras football family.

Patrick leads the Gridiron Club’s marketing efforts with a fresh and creative perspective. His interest in fitness, performance, and helping others improve makes him a strong fit for a role that connects athletics, alumni engagement, and community support.
Danny Badovinac graduated from Loras College in 2013 after competing in the football program. His time as a Duhawk student-athlete gave him a lasting appreciation for the friendships, traditions, and shared experiences that make Loras football special.

As Events Coordinator, Danny brings organization, enthusiasm, and a strong alumni spirit to the board. He helps create events that keep former players, families, and supporters engaged with the program and connected to one another.

David Roche serves as Secretary of the LCFB Gridiron Club and Accounting Supervisor at Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. in Dubuque, Iowa. A member of the Loras College football team from 2012 to 2015 and Certified Public Accountant, David brings organizational skills and a steady hand to the board's leadership.
Beyond his professional life, David enjoys outdoor activities, community service, and staying connected to the Loras football tradition. His balanced perspective and dedication to teamwork make him a valued contributor to the Gridiron Club's mission.
Zach Myers graduated from Loras College in 2012 and was recognized as a standout student-athlete during his time at the school. He has remained connected to the Loras community and continues to support the football program through his involvement with the Gridiron Club.

Matt Block graduated from Loras College in 1994 and has built a career in the beverage and spirits industry. His professional background centers on sales, relationships, and bringing people together, qualities that have served him well in both business and alumni leadership.

Matt Ferris is a Loras College alumnus and Vice President, Sales Executive at Cottingham & Butler in Dubuque, Iowa. He earned his B.A. from Loras in 1997 and has built a long career in the insurance industry, bringing strong relationship-building and business leadership experience to the Gridiron Club.

Matt’s connection to Loras reflects the same lasting alumni commitment that helps strengthen the Duhawk football community. His professional background and continued ties to Dubuque make him a valued member of the club’s emeritus board.
Steve Helminiak is a longtime Loras football coach and one of the most familiar names in the program’s modern history. His years of dedication to the Duhawks have made him a respected and trusted figure among players, alumni, and supporters.

Steve brings deep football knowledge and a lifelong commitment to the success of the program. His leadership has helped shape the culture of Loras football, and his continued involvement remains an important part of the program’s legacy.
Bob Bierie

Bob Bucko
Emeritus Board member
Bob Bierie graduated from Loras College in 1965 and returned to Dubuque in 1980 to become the 19th head football coach in program history. Over the next 25 seasons, he built one of the most successful eras in Loras football history, leading the Duhawks to 144 wins, multiple strong seasons, and a lasting reputation for toughness, discipline, and excellence.

Bob also served as Loras’ athletic director from 1985 to 1997 and helped guide the college’s athletic program back into the Iowa Conference and NCAA Division III. His long career at Loras, along with his continued presence in Dubuque as a development assistant, reflects a lifelong commitment to the college and to the student-athletes who followed in his footsteps.
Bob Bucko is a proud Loras College alumnus and legendary coach who in the 1970s helped pioneer the resurrection of Duhawk football. During his coaching tenure he served as offensive line coach, assistant head coach, and head coach. These '70s teams favorably known as "That '70s Show" earned four Regional Championships including a #2 national ranking in 1973. In 1976 as head coach, Bucko led the Duhawks to an 8-2 record resulting in a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Co-Championship.
Bucko returned to the Loras sideline from 2010-2019 as assistant offensive line coach and was inducted into the Loras College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Now residing in Asbury, Iowa, his decades of service reflect unmatched dedication to the football program and the values of leadership and loyalty that define the LCFB Gridiron Club.
